You can open 37 LinkedIn profiles, read five PDFs and firmly plan to “reach out soon”. Or you can show up at the DOERS Summit in Limassol and start a real conversation. The second option comes with more noise, more surprises and a much better chance of a story you will still want to tell later.

That is exactly why zflys joined the DOERS Summit Cyprus. Two days, four stages, more than 150 exhibitors and, according to the organisers, over 10,000 founders, investors and creators from more than 50 countries.

DOERS Summit Cyprus: Who Took the Stage in Limassol

The official event page listed more than 150 voices, including Alisa Adel from Airbus, DJ Bliss, Natasha Lytton from Seedcamp, Pedro Santos Vieira from 500 Global, Jeremy Brown from Anthemis and András G. Inotai. They were joined by people from MIT, TechIsland, SOFTSWISS, Wargaming and TheSoul Group. In short: an international programme where start-ups, investment, technology, brand leadership and the creator economy did not politely queue up one by one. They all tried to get through the door at once.

The Creator Stage also featured Rico Go alias Ricardo Gorski speaking about his business and his life as a creator and entrepreneur in Cyprus. His full DOERS talk is available online. The storyteller in the orange dress in our photo is Natasha Lytton. Her announced keynote explored storytelling as a competitive advantage in a world of information overload. That matches the slides in the photo: belief creates meaning, community creates momentum, “why now?” creates urgency and “why you?” creates trust.

Aphrodite would simply have nodded. Attention is her department, after all. But without truth, she would add, even the most beautiful performance is just very well-lit fog.

The Personal Highlight Came With a zflys Balloon

My personal highlight was neither a famous name nor a shiny new AI acronym. It was probably the world’s youngest zflys fan: a child holding our zflys balloon. Apparently, brand loyalty can begin before you can pronounce the word positioning.

Apollo from Sales would probably have asked for the conversion rate immediately. Aphrodite would have gently reminded him not to turn a lovely moment into a dashboard.

The balloon came from the zflys stand hosted by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA. We already knew the team from messages, documents and digital exchanges. But reading about people is not the same as meeting them. In person, you hear the tone, notice the humour and see which topic instantly brings someone to life. “We should talk sometime” suddenly becomes a conversation that actually happens. Revolutionary, we know. :)

What There Was to See at the DOERS Summit

The DOERS Summit was not a parade of speeches. Four stages hosted keynotes, panels and workshops. In the Startup Zone, people pitched, explained, questioned and invested. The Creator Stage covered brands, social media, monetisation, artificial intelligence and digital reach. And between lounges, stands and coffee cups, something happened that never quite fits into an agenda: people found out whether they liked one another, understood one another or wanted to build something together.

At the zflys stand, we talked about why English in Cyprus is much more than a conference language. It is often the bridge between international teams, clients and partners. And naturally, we reached the truly business-critical question: where are the best diving sites and underwater parks in Cyprus? Anyone claiming that this is not a networking topic has never met enthusiastic divers on a Mediterranean island.

Why In-Person Meetings Change Creative Conversations

The fact that meeting in person feels different from a video call is not just a post-event impression. Brucks and Levav reported in Nature in 2022 that pairs working by video conference generated fewer creative ideas than pairs in the same room, both in laboratory research and in a field experiment spanning five countries. Virtual teams were no worse at selecting the best idea. The responsible takeaway is not that video calls are bad. It is that physical presence can offer an advantage when people need to explore and generate ideas together.

That kind of space was everywhere in Limassol. Someone stops because of a balloon. The balloon sparks a joke, the joke sparks a question and the question might spark a project. No CRM can make the first eye contact for you. It is, however, welcome to document everything afterwards, before Hermes saves the name as “interesting person from the stand next door”.

Aphrodite’s Networking Tip for Her Island

Aphrodite leads Marketing on the zflys Olympus. Her advice for events in Cyprus is: “Look up from your badge now and then. People are more interesting than lead lists. Usually.” In practice, do not just schedule sessions; plan three real conversations. Do not open with your offer. Ask which project genuinely occupies the other person’s mind right now.

And if there is time left, take a detour to Petra tou Romiou, the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite. Not because your next partnership will automatically rise from the sea, but because shared places and experiences create better conversation starters than yet another windowless meeting room.

What Stays With Us From the DOERS Summit in Limassol

We came for international contacts, pitches and new ideas. We left with stories about underwater parks, investors, creators, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA and a small person with a big zflys balloon. The DOERS Summit Cyprus reminded us that communication is not made of messages alone. It happens between people.

An in-person meeting is not automatically deep, honest or productive. But it gives us more signals, more coincidences and more chances to turn a loose connection into a relationship. And yes: in person is usually more fun. If you want to prepare your next appearance so that contacts become conversations, we are here:
